About Damien Liversedge's work:
Photo Theme:
The Calm Before the Ride
Photo Story:
I took this photo just before hitting the road for the first time after spending months rebuilding this bike. Every dent, scratch, and bolt had a story, and I wanted to capture the moment where everything finally came together.

The way the sunlight hits the yellow and blue fairings felt symbolic—bright, bold, and ready. My riding gloves were on, adrenaline was building, but there was this quiet stillness before the engine roared to life.

I didn’t want a perfect, polished showroom shot. I wanted this—grit, effort, and anticipation. It’s a reminder of patience, passion, and the love that goes into chasing speed and freedom.

Would you like me to write it in a more poetic or social media-friendly tone?

Absolutely! Here's a revised version of the story from a photographer's point of view:

“Framed in Grit and Anticipation”

As a photographer, I'm always chasing moments that feel like something—not just what they look like. This shot wasn’t planned. I was supposed to just be documenting a friend's ride, but something about the scene stopped me.

The contrast between the deep blue and sharp yellow of the bike against the muted tones of the background caught my eye first. Then I noticed the rider—still, focused, almost tense. Gloved hand clenched, body leaning just slightly toward the machine. It wasn’t about the bike or the rider alone—it was about the relationship between the two.

I framed it tight on purpose. I didn’t want smiles or action. I wanted anticipation. The calm right before ignition. That space where adrenaline is quiet and the road hasn't been claimed yet.

This photo isn’t just about motorcycles. It’s about connection, readiness, and the story that happens in the pause before everything begins.
How long has Damien Liversedge loved photography:
I have always had an interest in photography but never thought I would be good enough. This was until I was at church and the one lady showed me how to use her camera and I got told to take pictures. When seeing the pictures she told me to keep practicing which I did.
How they discovered their passion for photography:
I started last year in helping take pictures for the school I worked at and started to get asked more regularly, I bought myself a 1000d and began to take pictures and eventually bought myself a bigger lens for soccer, hockey, and basketball. I then went one and got asked by a friend that played for the SA hockey u21 ladies if I could take a few pics of her which then changed and I took pictures for the team as a way to practice. This was awesome and I managed to practice shooting in manual but struggled with the night games due to iso but learned different ways of using lights. Fast forward to this year and I am still taking photos next to the field for clubs and taking some epic shots of couples.
