About Themba Mayisela 's work:
Photo Theme:
This photo is centered on “disappointment” that turned into “appointment”. Not showing up of a client ultimately led to more opportunities in my photography journey.
Photo Story:
The inspiration for this photo came from an unexpected turn, during my first graduation shoot appointment.

When my client didn’t show up and their phone was off, I found myself with time to spare and a beautiful setting at the Pretoria Botanical Gardens. Instead of letting the moment go to waste, I decided to capture the beauty of my wife in this stunning environment. It became a spontaneous opportunity to create something meaningful. It was totally unexpected, she was there to assist and support me, then go to her appointment, however ended up being my subject.
How long has Themba Mayisela loved photography:
7 years
How they discovered their passion for photography:
I’ve loved photography since 2019, when I left South Africa to teach in China. It was there that I discovered my passion for capturing the beauty of Asia and telling the story of my journey through images. I bought my first camera with the intention of documenting everything around me, every vibrant street, breathtaking landscape, and unique cultural moment.

As I explored new places and met diverse people, my love for photography deepened. It became a way for me to connect with my surroundings and share my experiences. After returning to South Africa in 2024, I decided to pursue photography professionally, turning my passion into a career.
