About Stacie Malan 's work:
Photo Theme:
Stillness Before the Wild
Photo Story:
This photograph was taken in a moment where time felt as if it slowed down. Before the movement, before the speed, before the instinct to run, there was this pause. The cheetah was completely present, calm and aware, and in that moment I felt deeply connected to it.

What drew me in were the eyes. They hold so much emotion, strength, and quiet confidence. There was no need for action or drama. The power was already there, resting beneath the surface. I chose to capture this moment closely because I wanted to preserve the feeling of intimacy and respect between observer and subject.

To me, this image speaks about patience, grace, and the beauty of waiting. It reminds us that nature does not rush, yet everything unfolds exactly as it should. This photograph holds a sense of reverence for wildlife and a reminder that some of the most meaningful moments are felt, not seen.
How long has Stacie Malan loved photography:
My whole life. Truly.
How they discovered their passion for photography:
I discovered my passion for photography during moments where I felt most connected to the world around me. What started as simply wanting to capture memories slowly became a way of seeing. I began noticing light, emotion, stillness, and small details that often go unnoticed.

Over time, photography became more than just taking pictures. It became how I tell stories, how I preserve moments that can never be repeated, and how I express what I feel when words are not enough. Holding a camera allows me to slow down and truly observe, whether it is people, nature, or quiet moments in between.

Photography found me in a very natural way. The more I photographed, the more I realised it was not just something I enjoyed, but something I felt deeply connected to. It became a passion rooted in presence, emotion, and the desire to capture beauty exactly as it is.
