About Jolanda de Wet's work:
Photo Theme:
The "Cold Moon / Springbok Moon"
Photo Story:
I saw a Chapel on a farm in the Greyton area. The Chapel is to far from the road to be properly photographed and so I set out to find the owner of the farm on which the Chapel is located on. I requested permission from the owners to take photos of the Chapel specifically looking at photographing the last Super Moon for 2025. They gave their permission and arranged to have the gates opened for om on the day (4 December 2025). I borrowed a telefocal lense and plotted my shot on the PhotoPills App. This was my first attempt at getting a full moon shot with the composition that I dreamed of capturing and also my first solo photographic trip.
How long has Jolanda de Wet loved photography:
I started in 2022 after my husband passed away (Covid) and used my phone to learn until I eventually got a proper mirrorless camera in 2025.
How they discovered their passion for photography:
I moved to Pringle Bay after my husband passed away and bought a house where my parents could live with me. To help me deal with grief I started walking / hiking. The Overberg region is beautiful and I found myself taking photos of everything and anything I found beautiful with my phone and it just grew from there.
