About Zoë Moatshe's work:
Photo Theme:
Unity in Christ
Photo Story:
To me the picture was about capturing the unity as everyone is either singing or caught in a moment of deep emotion. It was during worship you can feel the intensity and sincerity of the people involved, especially the central figure who is holding the microphone with visible emotion I really captured the moment where I felt as if burdens were lifted , it was my best shot and before I even shot it I wasn't even feeling like I wanted to shoot that night but my gut and the Holy Spirit gave me a vision which is when I captured the perfect moment. The photo is to really show worship, unity and how young kids are dedicated to praising while also having fun, proving how Christianity isn't "boring" as depicted.I took the pictures January 13th 2023 it was our summer camp, with cannon eos 1000d.
How long has Zoë Moatshe loved photography:
Since 2022 I first had the urge to usher at my church by being in the creative space. Serving every Fridays at youth, you'd always see me with a camera on me.
How they discovered their passion for photography:
My passion for photography has always been part of me. From a young age, I was constantly drawn to images posing for photos, taking pictures of everything around me, capturing memories without fully realizing what I was doing. I photographed the people I loved, the places I went, and the moments I didn’t want to forget. At first, I thought photography was simply about seeing something interesting and pressing a button. Over time, I realized it was much deeper than that.
My connection to photography grew stronger when I started working at my church. In 2022, when I truly discovered photography, my mentor pushed me to take it seriously and master the craft. I quickly noticed how naturally it came to me and how intense the joy felt. Instead of sitting still during church, I would run to the back to grab the camera, experimenting, observing, and learning through every shot. Photography became my way of being present even when I seemed distracted.
Every moment behind the camera was a lesson, and it still is. Even after being part of Curro Create for SHOOT IT, I continue to learn every day. Photography is more than just something I enjoy it is a passion, an interest, and a commitment. It is how I express emotion, capture stories, and give meaning to moments that might otherwise pass unnoticed.
