About Seneme Khanyile's work:
Photo Theme:
My mother
Photo Story:
This picture of my mum was captured after a moment of realisation that I had not taken pictures of her with my DSLR camera since I bought it. See, my mother is very supportive. Like every other mum, she wants the best for my siblings and me, but within that, she is an understanding parent. Whatever decision you take, she will go all out to support you in finding ways to assist you.

It took me almost 3 years to save up for my camera, a very good second-hand Canon 800D. I was still exploring with it, taking sports pictures and trying to figure out the manual, etc. Then, one day, the sight of my mother really caught my eye. She was outside in the backyard, bathing in the sunset, wearing a dress she often wears and still gets compliments on, and I ran back into the house to get my camera. As deceiving as it is, I grabbed one of my sister's books to use as an accessory. I told her that I would then be taking pictures of her. And, mid-questioning how she should pose, I captured this specific picture among others.

The way I even edited this picture is the way I see her... tranquil. peace. That is the life she loves and wishes to live, among the never-ending fluctuations of life. That is what i wish for her. That is what i work towards; getting her there as she has done for me, her daughter. making it seem easy for me when it was way worse than it seemed. And that's what I intend on doing. Giving her that soft peaceful life just as depicted in the picture and the edit. I love her very deeply.
