This image was inspired by the idea of staying grounded during difficult times. Growing up in a township environment, I’ve seen how people carry unseen burdens yet continue to stand strong. The act of a hand pressing into the soil reflects both pain and determination—like someone holding on, refusing to fall. I wanted to capture a moment that feels both physical and emotional, where the earth becomes a source of strength and identity.

How long has Sinethemba zuma loved photography:

I have loved photography from a very young age, growing up with a passion for capturing moments and telling stories through images.

How they discovered their passion for photography:

I discovered my passion for photography when I started capturing everyday life around me—my community, people, and real moments that often go unnoticed. Studying film and working with different creatives helped me realize that storytelling through visuals is powerful. Photography became more than just taking pictures; it became a way for me to express emotions, tell stories, and give a voice to my environment.
